Sizing Information

To find your hat size, measure around your head where a hat would sit (normally about 1/2"--1" above the eyebrows and ears). Hold the tape measure comfortably, as you would like a hat to fit (most measuring errors occur by applying the tape too tightly). If you do not have a flexible tape measure, a piece of string or ribbon (non-stretchy) can be held around the head and then measured on a yardstick. Measure to the nearest 1/8" and find your applicable size on the chart below.

When a particular hat varies substantially from the chart, we will include this in the hat's description. If your measurement puts you exactly between two sizes, it is generally better to order the larger of the two. It is easier to adjust the fit of a slightly loose hat by putting material behind the sweatband than it is to stretch a too tight hat (unless you have a hat stretcher). With every hat* you purchase, we supply a free Fit Kit consisting of thin closed-cell foam strips specially selected for customizing the fit of your hat. The Fit Kit is available exclusively at Noggintops.

*Fit Kits are not included with hats that do not have a sweatband that accomodates them, such as Hanna caps, Watership Trading Co. hats and caps, Barmah Aussie Cooler, and Tilley hats and caps. Tilley canvas hats can be tightened by up to one size by following the instructions in the hat's owner's manual. Of course, if the hat you order does not fit to your satisfaction, you may return it for exchange or refund.

Larger Sizes

We carry the largest size available in every hat model. If your hat size is larger than the largest size listed for a given hat, we may be able to stretch the hat up to one size larger. Please call us toll-free at 1-877-943-4287 (1-860-872-6124 outside U.S.) for more information. There is no extra charge for stretching. However, please allow for an extra 2-3 days shipping time.
