Originally designed for sailing, this hat is also a proven performer in mountains, jungles, and deserts (standard issue to Canadian troops in the Gulf War). Constructed of highest quality, pre-shrunk 10 oz. cotton duck, treated for water-repellency and mildew resistance. Innovative windcord system allows securing of the hat in three ways--without leaving any extra cord dangling. Thin polyethylene foam insert in crown (removeable) provides insulation from intense sun, adds stability when wet, and allows the hat to float. Brim snaps up on either side for increased clearance or just a jaunty look. All Tilley hats are rated to block 98% of UVA/UVB rays and deliver the maximum Ultraviolet Protection Factor rating of 50+.
